Calling all artists! A three– to four-month summer art residency is being offered at the Yosemite Field Station inside Yosemite National Park. The Scientific Visualization Fellowship (SciViz) is being offered by the University of California Merced, Sierra Nevada Research Institute.
SNRI SciViz Fellowships are competitive awards intended to support work that is inspired by nature and science or that creatively communicates scientific research to a general audience. The term “visualization” is used broadly to refer to all forms of artistic media.
SciViz Fellows will receive a $1750 stipend and three months of shared housing inside Yosemite National Park at the SNRI Yosemite Field Station in Wawona. This is a self-directed opportunity to collaborate with university and park researchers, graduate students, undergraduates, high school students, and park education and outreach specialists. Awardees are strongly encouraged to interact with researchers and students participating in summer programs at YFS.
The Station does not have formal studio space for art or large installation pieces. Awardees will be required to bring their own tools/equipment and should be able to work within the space constraints of the YFS facilities.
Independently motivated, energetic, creative thinkers are strongly encouraged to apply.
Both current students and young professionals are eligible for this award..
All application materials must be submitted by the first day of spring, 2011 to Eric Berlow (firstname.lastname@example.org):
Signed letters of reference should be emailed separately.
